Foundational Data Sync vs Instance Data Replication for CMDB Sync

We are planning to sync CMDB data b/w two PROD instances on daily basis. What should be the preferred way Foundational Data Sync (FDS) or Instance Data Replication (IDR)? Have anyone use one of the techniques in their project?

FDS is a relatively new solution and depends on Service Bridge being configured beforehand. If your organization already has Service Bridge, FDS may be a suitable option.

Hi @MattSN We do not have FDS or IDR configured yet, but trying to set it up with SN Vendor help. They recommended FDS for CMDB CI sync, however I am not sure if any other org has implemented CMDB sync using FDS. Hence, I am wondering if we should go for IDR or FDS.

Hi, from what i see when looking for the 2 product and thinking about CMDB, FDS seem to be more a "pick and choose" things you want to sync with custom ETL, and IDR would provide a way to sync more easily every every thing?

In my case, i want to sync all the CMDB from an on-premise instance to a cloud instance. Avoiding to have hundreds of ETL to capture all possible topologies of the hundreds of CMDB tables. All users will look at the CMDB schema of our company only in the cloud instance and i want it to include everything.

I'm better to use IDR for that, cause FDS would need a bunch of manual and hard to maintain ETLs?

With IDR, it would be long to create maps for the hundreds of tables, but once done, syncing everything would be magic?

Thanks
