Getting value from Event Management and AIOps starts with getting set up — activating the right capabilities, applying good defaults, and lighting up the dashboards and automation that do the work. Setup Hub makes that first step fast and guided, so teams can move from "we have it" to "it's running" quickly and confidently.
For those of us in the ITOM and AIOps world, that's a meaningful shift in the onboarding story.
So what is Setup Hub?
Setup Hub is a new application in the Australia release that centralizes instance setup and management through a modular, personalized Admin Home dashboard. Instead of bouncing between App Manager, Guided Setup, and a stack of docs, admins get one starting point that's aware of what you're entitled to and where you are in your implementation journey.
The part that matters most for us is the Product Hub model. Each product gets its own guided hub for discovering, installing, and configuring what you own — and ITOM AIOps is one of them. Underneath sits the Configuration Console, which is where the guided, step-by-step work actually happens.
Here's the official framing of the ITOM capability, and it's worth quoting because it's exactly the goal: a guided, unified experience that lets IT Operations administrators rapidly onboard and configure Event Management and Discovery, accelerating time-to-first-use and driving adoption — while also making ongoing management simpler down the road.
In plain terms: get off the ground fast, with fewer wrong turns.
How it works for AIOps
The guided flow automates the setup and applies sensible defaults, so you can move through onboarding quickly with confidence at each step. From the ITOM Product Hub, it:
- Checks what's already in place. It detects which required plugins are installed and adjusts the steps it shows you accordingly — so you're never staring at an instruction for something you've already done, or missing one you haven't.
- Installs the required components for you. Rather than hunting down each AIOps plugin and its dependencies, the guided experience installs what's needed and applies default configurations from a single starting point.
- Wires up the AIOps building blocks. This is where the time savings compound — the foundational pieces that make AIOps actually do something (alert rules, alert and health automation, metric rules, and the AIOps dashboards) get set up through the guided path instead of one record at a time.
- Tracks your status and guides next steps. The Configuration Console gives you search, task management, and clear configuration-status indicators, plus contextual Now Assist guidance so you always know what's done and what's next.
There's also a zero-touch angle worth knowing about: for new customers in supported non-production instances, Setup Hub can be installed automatically with selected applications and plugins, with installation status tracked and ready for configuration. So in a lot of cases, the starting line is already laid out for you.
See it in action
Rather than just describe the flow, here's the guided setup end to end — from the ITOM Product Hub through to a configured AIOps environment:
Why this matters (a quick scenario)
Picture a NOC team at a large airline standing up event management ahead of peak travel season. They start from the ITOM Product Hub, let the guided flow install and default-configure the required pieces, and use the Configuration Console to confirm each step is green before moving on. Within their first session, the foundations are in place — and the team's energy goes straight to tuning for their environment: which services matter most, which alerts should drive automation. That's the shift: more time driving outcomes, faster.
A few practical notes
- Where to get it: Setup Hub is available through the ServiceNow Store. Request it from the Store and you're on your way.
- It's entitlement-driven: the experience tailors itself to what you actually own, so you see the products and flows relevant to you — no noise.
- It's not just for greenfield: while new instances benefit most from zero-touch, the guided configuration and Configuration Console are just as useful for existing teams expanding into AIOps.
The bottom line
Setup Hub takes the initial standup of AIOps and makes it a guided, automated, status-aware experience. For customers ready to get value out of Event Management and AIOps, that means the gap between "we bought it" and "it's working" gets dramatically shorter.
If you're planning an AIOps rollout, this is the front door I'd start with. I'll be sharing more on the configuration steps and tuning in a follow-up.
