Hardware Model Normalization

Hi,

We have to normalize the hardware model which is created form discovery like:

OOTB discovery populates as below:

Display Name:IBM BladeCenter HS22 -[7870C4U]-

Name:BladeCenter HS22 -[7870C4U]-

Manufacturer:IBM

Model Number:empty

Our Goal:

Display Name:IBM BladeCenter HS22

Name:BladeCenter HS22

Manufacturer:IBM

Model Number:7870C4U

If we manually modify the model according to our goal and re discover the existing CI,its is not creating a new model but after deleting the same CI when we re discover it is creating OOTB new model.

How we can achieve this by not creating new models.

Hi Vineet,

I would take a look at the field normalization plugin in ServiceNow and then search through the community for others in the same situation with hardware and software assets.

Hi Brad,

Thanks i got the solution for my requirement by using coalesce feature in normalization.

Created hardware models manually then rules for all the auto generated models to point towards the manually created models.

I thought the Manufacturer/Vendor company name normalization would fix my issue of Discovery creating product models starting with "Dell Inc." but although the reference qualifiers are in place and will only let you choose the "Normalized = True" values when creating them manually... Discovery seems to not see the manually created ones that don't have "Inc." in the name and then creates its own.   b-rad do you know what discovery, model, or normalization setting would fix this?
