We have to discover VMware virtual appliance and VPx. There is no vCenter here. How can we do that?

But since the vmapp is triggering VMWare - vCenter Datacenters probe, would we still get the ESX and VM information?

 - Yes, you will get the ESX and all the VM resources from VMWare probes.

Hi Ditu,

As of now, there is no available to option to discover VMWare virtual appliance. Only vCenter can be discovered from the appliance. The appliance has some unique shell which is designed only for VMWare people.

Vivek

"Only vCenter can be discovered from the appliance."

I am sorry, can you please elaborate on that?

Hi Ditu,

I do not think ServiceNow documented this. But you can look at Doug's reply about it in this thread.

Thank you for that. We won't be able to discover the appliance. That seems to be logical. Though in one of the Kingston documents, I can see that they have given procedure to enable bash on the appliance too, but the purpose could be their discovery.
