I cannot use Domain Administrator right in my environment and was wondering if there is another way to discover Windows Domain Controllers.

DC's need Domain admin to query.. Any complaints can be directed to 1800-Microsoft, Bill is eagerly awaiting your call LOL..
However all hope is not lost, you might consider using the logon script as a scheduled job on the host...
The downside is you won't get any application relationships but at least the asset will be in the CMDB

That link doesn't work anymore. Has there been any new updates in terms of discovering Domain Controllers in the last 5 years ? 🙂

Not really because ultimately it's a window security thing. To discover them fully you need domain admin which most places won't give you. I'm sure they could give you some sort of paired down WMI access but you wouldn't be able to discover it fully so unfortunately you need to have domain admin to discover it. Also FYI Doug needs a million points for his 1800 comment 😛
