I'm learning to use Cloud Discovery to find CIs in Azure. The Azure Subscription has many related sections that have filled with CIs such as Azure Virtual Machine Instances, Azure Virtual Networks, and more. You have to be a discovery admin to view the Azure subscription. To view our CMDB, all you need is itil and there's various modules that already list numerous other CIs. Do I have to build my own list of modules under Configuration to list Azure components? Is there an easier way to allow an ITIL user to browse Azure CIs?

Hi Ron,
Correct me if I might have misunderstood you but, what happens when you are running Discovery in Azure? Is it successful and is it creating CI's in your CMDB? You should see your CI's under the Discovery Schedule -> <your_desired_schedule> -> Discovery Status tab -> DISxxxxx -> Devices tab.
My guess is that if your Discovery runs successfully you should see a bunch of CI's there with correct CI-types.
If you are looking for specific Azure CI's, I'd suggest you to tag them with a specific Azure location when doing your Discovery in order to filter them out.
Regards

Yeah, nothing came back in the devices tab after discovery, but the Azure subscription tabs populated with a bunch of data. This was the result of doing a 'discover now' from the subscription itself.
I did setup and run a cloud service discovery, that returned 31 devices that appear to be Azure nodes of some kind, they're all country names and regions.
I am unfortunately unfamiliar with Azure, so I may need to reach out to my contact to figure out what meaningful information they're expecting.

Ron,
I believe out of the box you are just missing the modules on the navigator and your users aren't able to see it. What you are suggesting should work since it's just CI data. I would just add some entries under the Configuration section that link to the tables that have the information. This way ITIL users will know how to get to the CI data without needing to use the Azure subscription section. Hope this helps.

I was hoping the tree of Azure CIs was already built and I was just overlooking it. If I have to build it myself, I guess I'll do that.
