On Server MID User is updating status to Retire from Installed

Hi,

Servers status is updated by MID user to "Retied" from "Installed", when we verify there are one (or) more VM's connected to Server and these VM's status was Terminated.

These servers are discovered few hours/Days back, how to fix this issue?

Note# I believe this is the issue for many and ServiceNow might have KB on this.

Regards,

Vini.

Vini,

You don't mention what you are running via the MID server for this status change to occur, are you using Discovery? Some more details would help the community assist you with potential solutions.

Thanks,

Are u using Vcenter Discovery for above or Mid Server Vcentr event collector for Sync?

Hi @Rahul Priyadars@Richard Hine ,

We are using both Discovery & VMWare discovery.

Hi,

If you are using both vmware discovery via vCenter Event Collectors & Horizontal Discovery, then its better to configure the Reconciliation rule on cmdb_ci_vmware_instance Table to which discovery source can update the State and provide the priority.

This will make sure it is not flip-flopping the field values between 2 sources

Also, Observe these

  • Table is sn_cmp_cloud_event - observe the below events for your record that has issues
    • automation.vcenter
    • vCenterVMStateUpdater.processed
  • Observe the OOTB Script include called "VCenterVMStateUpdater".  It has everything of what you are looking

Thanks,

Narsing
