HI,
We use both in our environment. But we don't scan end user device like workstations, Laptop, desktop using discovery.
Yes we can do that using discovery but then when you run discovery this laptop, desktop, etc should be plugged or should be ON on the network you are scanning. If the laptop is switched on out side the network then it won';t be scanned. We get this device's via SCCM. We get all details that discovery can give you via SCCM like software installed, Size, SN, ip, macaddress, etc.
Check below link for using this together.
When you use both this integration to discover Computer or server's you should make sure that you have proper data precedence rule's in servicenow. Which will decide that wether Discovery should update the device or SCCM should update the device.

SCCM is mostly used for Desktops as it would be difficult to discover devices that are over a VPN or if you already have SCCM available in the client environment.
Discovery can discover all the servers in the enterprise, but for desktops and laptops you may have to either use SCCM or Help the Helpdesk script.

As the previous post mentioned, at our company we have said the source of truth for desktops is SCCM. We use discovery to discovery servers/printers and network gear.
What SCCM also gives is the assignment of the desktop to a person. We use that information so we know what desktop is assigned to what person.
