Status, Operational Status & Hardware Status

I would like to know difference between Configuration Item fields Status, Operational Status & Hardware Status.

Which field gets populated when ? If I have to retire a CI , what is the field that I should consider for updating ?

All of them need to be updated if you are retiring.

Operational Status field can change during CI Lifecycle.  Install Status & Hardware Status will remain as installed until the device reaches EOL.  At which point:

Operational Status == Non-Operational
Install Status == Retired
Hardware Status == Retired

If you have an associated Asset record, marking the Hardware Status should result in the Asset Record being marked as Retired as well.

I think the attribute has a default value. Check the dictionary. Regards, Michael
