Hi Everyone,

We have multiple Linux and Windows appliance provided by different vendors, we are manually collecting them. I am looking for the right table to store these appliances in CMDB.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Karim,

Computer [cmdb_ci_computer] is the correct table for your client Appliance types.

Please find below thread for detail understanding:-

https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_question&sys_id=97505a91db4533c05129a851ca96...

ServiceNow has a lot of documentation on this, look through this for additional help:

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/london-servicenow-platform/page/product/configuration-management/...

CMDB categories on also called CI class which is what I described previously.

CMDB model categories are associated to a CI class and are part of the Asset Management module.  check this article out:

But I have an issue here with assuming ci_computer default for appliance without checking into WHAT TYPE of appliance we are referring to.  Because how about firewalls that are appliances but ci class-ified as Linux Server (cmdb_ci_server_Linux_Server).  Would that not be preferable with additionally checking the appliance checkbox for the hardware?  Please see below for appliance checkbox -i have scratched out any proprietary information in respective fields.
