What SN Discovery command(s)/script/process/pattern is run to populate the cmdb_sam_sw_install table

Per a customer requirement we are validating Discovery data supplied from SN for RHEL7 servers. To do this we are just running a series of commands at the Linux command line and capturing the output, then this data is compared with the data that Discovery collected. For Linux we are running the yum list installed and rpm -qa to show installed software. The software installed data from the Linux command line does not exactly match the data from the Discovery and our customer is asking for an explanation for differences. So i am trying to understand what SN Discovery command/pattern/process is used to collect the data that is inserted into the cmdb_sam_sw_install table.
