Hi All,
I am really getting mixed responses, so thought to ask in community.
1)Will Discovery update the CI irrespective of Operational Status, Install Status and Hardware Status?
2)Example: For One CI, I have made a operational status to Retired and ran adhoc run for that CI, instead of updating the retired record it created new one, is this right behavior.
Thanks&Regards,
Rajesh

Hi,
Yes discovery still update the retired CIs. It will discover and update it. It's one of those weird things where is it really retired if you can discover it? The other thing is that Service Mapping is different and will actually not discover it if it's marked as operational status = retired. Either way in general you may want to setup a process for these to flag them somehow so you can follow-up on them (or even used most recent discovery date to form a process).
Kindly mark it helpful and correct if it solves your issue.
Thanks,
Priyanka.

Hi,
I will share my experience here:
1) It will update the CI with respect to identifier rules and not based on status.
2) It will only create new CI if identifier doesnot find a match and it depends on discovery properties.
Thanks,
Ashutosh

Hi Ashutosh,
If a CI's status is marked Retired in CMDB (even though it is not technically retired in the Data Center ) will Discovery change back its status to Installed?
Thanks

If a CI's status is marked Retired in CMDB (even though it is not technically retired in the Data Center ) will Discovery change back its status to Installed? ---> It will definitely Update the CI Attributes. Status will be Updated if Its Mapped in PATTERN Script.
