We have Requested Item form which contains many variables. I believe there must be a limit to the number of variables in the "Variable on Task Form" section when creating a workflow Catalog Task because I can't select them all. I realize marking a variable as global will show the global in all tasks without specifing it. I don't want them visible to all tasks. There is only one task that need to see them all. Would anyone know of a way around this?

"Navigate to "Workflow - Activity Definitions". Select "Catalog Task" from the list.
On the "Activity Variables" related list, click "task_variables".
Note the "task_variables" variable has a maximum length of 4000.
Make this bigger to accomodate more variables in the slush bucket. I have used a value of 10000 in the past."

Hi,
I've never heard of a limit on variables before. I've seen some catalog forms with many, many dozens of fields. Maybe even close to 100 on an asset management type form.
If you're talking about the selectable list on bottom of the task action, I'm not as familiar with that. I have a script I use that queries the table and brings over all the variables and values in their original displayed order.

Abrahams,
Any luck on this? Pretty annoying limit isn't it?

So, am I understanding that is this based on the number of characters in the 'Name' of the variable as opposed to the number of individual variables?
This addressed the issue I was experiencing but I am wondering if maybe we need to shorted our naming convention or not.
Thank you!
