Recently I followed the following advice from docs.servicenow.com:
Homepages and content pages in Update Sets
Homepages and content pages are not added to Update Sets by default. You must manually add pages to the current Update Set by unloading them.
- Application Development Update Sets, Istanbul
However, my configuration changes to the selected home pages didn't make it as part of the move from subprod to prod. Can someone with a little more experience walk me through this? What does it mean to unload the homepage? Maybe that's where I went wrong. A screenshot(s) to show me would be awesome.
Thank you in advance, Deb

Hi Deb,
Section 6 describes this pretty well.
http://wiki.servicenow.com/index.php?title=Homepage_Administration#gsc.tab=0
Select (or create) the update set in which you wish to capture the changes.
Navigate to Homepage Admin> Pages
Right click on the record and select Unload Portal Page
The changes are now part of your update set.
