Hi,
I'm trying to connect to oracle database, query a table and preparing a dashboard using the data.
I navigated into ' system import sets --> administration--> data sources' and provided the details of my oracle instance.
the issue here is
1. i'm not able to connect to the database
2. I dont know what to do next to see the results
3. how do i build a chart/dashboard using the data.
I'm sorry i'm completely new and a first time user to service now. please guide me through
Appreciate your help in advance.
Thanks

Hi Kadambari,
It seems that you are not using a MID-Server - I missed your earlier screenshot of the data source where "Use MID Server" is empty.
<earlier>
I can advise there is no connectivity to the db from the Internet in general.
$ telnet lnxdb-dev-vm-218.cisco.com 1521
Trying 173.38.3.24...
telnet: connect to address 173.38.3.24: Operation timed out
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host
</earlier>
1) Your ServiceNow instance could connect to the db - if the instance source IPs are allowed through the Enterprise firewall.
or
2) You could install a MID-Server in the Enterprise and specify the MID Server in the data source.
You need to reach out internally to arrange one of the above choices.
Best Regards
Tony

tony.barratt is this doable without a MID? i would like to set up a oracle connection via jdbc for location info to be imported. I should be able to do this using a data source correct?

Hi Tony,
I am in process of connecting ServiceNow instance to Oracle database. My requirement is to get data from Oracle, transform and populate in ServiceNow.
I tried loading 20 record and got the same Network connectivity issue as mentioned in the earlier query.
I am using MID server. Wanted to understand if we need to do any changes in MID server configuration or any other setting to establish the connection.
Many thanks
Nitin
