Custom Search Widget that searched only IT Related Topics

I would like to create a custom search widget, similar to the OOB Homepage Search widget.  Unlike the OOB widget, (which performs a global search), this new widget should search only within IT-Support related Topics.  Meaning, it should only return catalog items and knowledge articles within IT, and exclude items in areas such as HR.

The reason for this is that this new widget will be used in a custom IT Support page, where users will be searching for IT specific items.  This would seem to be a simple ask, and easily configurable within Employee Center Pro, but I have yet to find a way to do this.

Does anyone know how this can be done?

Open your page in "page in Designer" .

then you can add the typehead search widget in your page which show search box on page, and click on pecil icon of that widget 

and select the search sources as catalogue item and knowledge articles 

save and Test .
