Extending tables from task

Hi Folks,

I have a requirement to design a custom app with 7 new tables and the customer expects all the tables be extended from task. I did further analysis and found that 3 of these tables hardly drive any process and are just like data containers to be used by other tables?

So would it be a feasible proposition to ask clients to not extend these tables from task? or is it ok to extend these these tables from task?

Regards

Hi ShAn2,

It is totally okay to ask client to not extend these table from task if there is no further use of the process which task table suffice.

I think you need to have a conversation over the future for those tables with client. Will they always be a data container or there will be more use of those table in future. If there is more use then you can extend and with that you will get all the basic rules, scripts and functionalities process wise as a task table and then you can customize it more as per your use. But if not then you can just create the new tables without extending them.

This below article may help you get more clarity on extend vs create new.

Hello,

Its okay to extend it if there is no harm in it .

But if they are not used any where by clients the effort might go in vain so double check with clients whether they want those three tables and take a call on it

Please accept my answer if it helped you
