How to add fields under personalize list column view

Hi Everyone,
I have an user who has ITIL access. He needs two reference fields to be added to his list view of incidents. When he clicks on gear box on list view, fields are not showing up on the available box to add them to selected box
How to add such fields to list view and what is the cause of issue ? Kindly please help me. Thank you

The field can't be added from the personalize menu (gear). Go to Configure-> List layout. All the configuration must be done from within "List Layout". You can't add new fields to a list that you have already personalized.
