How to add help text to the "Icon link" widget in servicenow

Hi Team,

How can we add help text to the "Icon link" widget in servicenow.

We have service poral with three "Icon link widget"

1) Service Request - which redirect to the Service Catalog for raising requests

2) Incident - which will redirect to the record producer for raising incident

3) KB article - which will redirect to the Knowledge Base to view the user KB articles

Short description field of widget is not allowing more that 40 characters and we need to provide some help text when the user hover over any of the above three widgets then its corresponding help text needs to be visible.

Can anyone help me on this?

Hi @Aswathy3  , 

 Directly You can not add helptext like it is available in Service Catalog variable.

You can add Short description for you Icon widget  (post cloning it from OOB one) which can fulfill your purpose.

Hi Thanusree,

I have updated the short description based on the KB and it is getting added but the view not looks good because it has the definition, examples and key points.

So, is there a way to display only definition and when the user roll on (hover over) the widget icon then rest of the texts examples and key points should be visible.
