How to change model category for an asset after it is deployed

When I have created an asset (ex. a powerfull laptop) and have deployed it as a server (multiple model categories).
Now I want to deploy it as an office computer, and would like to change the model category to Laptop.
How can I change the model category, because ServiceNow locks that field after the first creation.

Did you tried some Fix script to change them as you were looking at that.
And are there model recognised.

I am just the Asset Manager trying to control our portofolio (50k+ PC, 2k+ servers)

Sorry for the late answer.
I am very much in doubt.
My reason for a specific model category for different types of computers is that I have a need for different information on each type (laptop, desktop, All-in-One, thin clients and tablets).
But is it the "right way"

Hi Jens,
Basically end user assets are categorized based on their core category. You have have number of desktops and laptops. But they will be considered as End user assets with computer category. if you want you can make Laptop as a different category.
But i dont think it will be a good idea.
