How to make Assignment Lookup Rules not apply on update, or not change AG already updated

We set up Assignment Lookup Rules to assign incidents to specific Assignment Groups based on different combinations of Category, Application, etc... The rules seem to work. But.. they are working not just when an incident is created, but also when these fields are updated. Is there a way to have Assignment Lookup Rules only apply when an incident is created? Or to not over-write existing assignments?
