How to Retroactively Install Demo Data on the ITSM Guided Setup Plugin?

Hi all! I am brand new to ServiceNow, I am taking a comprehensive Bootcamp to learn it, and I am on day 3!

We are currently going through the ITSM guided setup as an assignment/real-life application practice.

My issue: when I created my Servicenow account and then my instance, the ITSM Guided Setup plugin was pre-downloaded. For this reason, I was unable to click 'load demo data', and so now I have no demo data to work with for my instance or the Guided Setup. I need this demo data in order to complete several of the steps.

So, I have referred to various Now Community articles that talk about how to retroactively install demo data, (see link below), but the problem is, these steps do now work in my case.

https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_question&sys_id=dae17de0dba97410b1b102d5ca96192e

Please let me know if there are other steps I should take!

Thanks-

Hello,

Other than reaching out to ServiceNow for support, they may be able to support through a case/HI ticket, you would use the method as described above. Otherwise, you could in theory create a ServiceNow developer account (use the Developer Site link at the top of this page) and request your own personal developer instance. Then, from there, you can export (via XML) groups, users, and things like that, into your instance for testing/dev purposes, etc.

Keep in mind that ITSM Guided Setup, standard, doesn't have demo date installed on any new instance, the demo data doesn't come from that plugin.

Depending on what you want installed, the above gives some demo data.

Thank you so much for your response!

In terms of more details, when I follow the protocol outlined in the link I originally shared (find and open the application, click 'repair app', click 'load demo data' then repair), there is no 'load demo data check box' (image shown below). That is the step I was referring to that does not work.

Hi Kierra,

I have cross verified in my PDI, and I have the same option to repair but not to load demo data.

But, in general, if you look at ITSM modules, you will have some data which I used for testing, development.

Are you looking for specific data in specific tables or modules?
