Hi Guys,
I just want to confirm whether SN Discovery will be able to discover the laptop which are not connected to Company Network. For example, I have got an laptop from my organization, but I am using my laptop from my home network instead of company premises. In this case will my laptop be discovered ?
Thanks!

Hi,
I would say yes and no.
With discovery you have to give him the network addresses where it will search for devices.
If you are using a VPN at your home to connect to your work's network , it will be visible in discover of course if the IP of the VPN is added in discovery config.
No, in case the network you are connect on is not added in discovery
Hope this helps you

As Lô states, not really. Agentless discovery tools are not really designed to capture systems that are on and off the network. You would need some way to ensure the device is on the network when the discovery runs.
You do have options, though. If the laptops are Windows, you could look at Help the Help Desk. This is designed to capture information from end user devices and can be run either on demand or as part of a login script on the computer.
Many companies have agent-based deployment tools, such as Microsoft SCCM, Altiris, LANDesk, etc. that include a component to capture device information. They will often use this information for devices that are not always on the network.
