Is it possible to change a field type without losing the data currently in the field

Hello community,

I have a field on a form that is currently a decimal field type and I'm being asked to change the field type to an integer field without losing the data currently captured in the fields. The only way I know to change a field type is to create a new field and replace the one currently in place but that would of course clear out the data currently captured (and reported on).

Please have a look at the below Wiki Article which clearly says that "You cannot change a field's type without data loss".
