Is there anyway to reduce the size of variables inside container on Catalog form?

Team,

Just want to understand if there is any way we can reduce the Size of the variables inside the container? We tried creating the Onload client script to reduce the size, but its not working. 

When we try to change the Type Specifications on the variable , its clearly showing as its not allowed in 2 column container.

Can someone please assist?
