Model and Model category read only

Good Day!

Could someone please let me know why model and model category fields are read only on asset table ?

Also do we have any ACL written for the same ?

I looked at the link provided as the answer but did not see the answer to the question bout Model & Model Category being read only which is a challenge when they are empty and trying to change or populate.
