Need a UI Policy with a condition that includes a shared variable across multiple catalog items

I need to create a UI policy for catalog tasks that filters on a single variable that is included in most of our catalog items.  When I look at filter fields, I have no way to access the variable.  If I use catalog UI policy, it requires me to specify a single catalog item.  I really don't want to build a policy for every catalog item that contains this variable.  Is there any way for a single UI policy to search for the same variable value across multiple catalog items?

Nope it's not possible to have a common ui policy for multiple catalog items.

If it is a common variable used across multiple items, you can make it a variable set and then have a UI policy on the variable set. We have that for several of our items - some sets have 10+ variables and a few only have 1 variable, but we can consistently control the behavior of the variable across 300+ items by setting the UI policy on the variable set itself.
