Hello Awesome peeps, I am tasked to clone the Production instance to DEV and Test, means making DEV and Test copies of Production.
1.My question is what impact does cloning have during working hours have when simultaneously some of the applications like Oracle, etc are being updated.
2.Is it better to do in the non-business hours or can it be done during business hours? P.S I am the only admin for service now in my organization, rest all teams belong to applications built on SN platform.
3.And also what are the standard procedures, Best practices and steps to start the clone?

My question is what impact does cloning have during working hours have when simultaneously some of the applications like Oracle, etc are being updated
--> Cloning will copy data from production to dev instance. It's best not do any data updates during clone on target instance since this will be overwritten.
2.Is it better to do in the non-business hours or can it be done during business hours? P.S I am the only admin for service now in my organization, rest all teams belong to applications built on SN platform.
--> Its best do schedule in non business hours to minimize impact. You will also get chance, bandwidth to resolve any clone issues during off peak hours.
And also what are the standard procedures, Best practices and steps to start the clone?
--> Please check this for all cloning best practices

Hi Anurag,
You have the option to request a clone of prod to your sub prod instances during your working hours. The clone engine will use the most recent backup of your production as the source of the clone.
More info on cloning can be found on this link:
I hope this helps.
