rota_manager not working for group members when added to group

Hi all,

I've found that the group members still don't have the edit ability to their on-call schedule even though the "rota_manager" role is granted to the group. I would expect that ServiceNow made it behave this way but haven't found any documentation or the code that's doing it. Has anyone else encountered this issue and got around it?

More background into - My client wants all group members to be able to edit their on-call schedules so based on my research, there are two ways to have "rota_manager" work at the group member level

1.  Data Maintenance task by Sys Admin (No configuration change needed)

  • Create a group e.g. “On-Call Scheduling Managers” for the group managers whose groups will use the on-call features
  • The group members who want to edit their shifts will be granted with rota_manager by the ServiceNow Sys Admin manually by request
  • The ServiceNow Sys Admin will use the “Delegate Roles in Group” module to fulfill. It is an automated workflow.

2. Data Maintenance task by Group managers.

  • Activate an out-of-the-box Business rule which only grants the group managers the role delegation ability
  • Toggle the group manager to kick off the business rule for the group manager
  • Create a group e.g. “On-Call Scheduling Managers” for the group managers whose groups will use the on-call features
  • The group manager to use the “Delegate Roles in Group” module to delegate the rota_manager role to their group members
