Hello, I'm looking at importing our SCCM Data in to ServiceNow and was wondering if anyone knew of any handy resources on doing so? (Except the wiki which is very handy but doesn't have as many resources as Discovery as you'd expect)
Our CMDB/Asset Management is not currently in use on our Business - so this would all be from scratch. After doing a little research it looks like you have to set up a MID server. Is this completely necessary in order to do this or not? If it's not what advantages would I gain by setting one up though?
Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a silly question, any replies will be much appreciated!

Hi Machael,
MID servers are required whenever you are accessing the CLIENT'S INFRASTRUCTURE ELEMENTS from Servicenow instance (hosted on cloud).
It's a multipurpose application that facilitates the communication. A Single MID can be used in :
1. Discovery
2. Service Mapping
3. Integrations
4. Orchestration
and for SCCM, we have a plugin in Servicenow that has all necessary configuration required to pull data from your SCCM DB.
All you need is the credentials and access to access the SCCM remotely.

Hi Prabhash,
Do you have to pay any more for the MID Server at all? Is it just free as part of ServiceNow? I understand if you wish to implement Discovery that comes at an additional cost, but if I was to set up SCCM to Sync with ServiceNow via the MID server this wouldn't be an additional cost, right?
Thanks for your answer, very helpful.

So here is the deal
If you want to run an import of SCCM data into ServiceNOW, you can do it without MID server.
But again, there is a Plugin for this and that you will have to purchase.
Coming to the original question about the MID server pricing, The MID is actually a java application that runs on a Server (win/linux). It can be downloaded and installed as per the requirement.
The only costing we come across is for the Provisioning of these WIN and UNIX/LINUX nodes in the client environment. Refer the link shared below :
Hope this is the answer you are looking for.
