self service password reset

anyone there that is familiar?   I have activated the plugin for this, and it states that " by default there is a new message and link on the login page to access the reset page.'   I am unable to find this link on any login page, and I have verified the activation by finding the UI pages and scripts included.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

"By default, there isn't anything unless you've configured the plug-in for use.   What you will need to do if you want to have this appear on the Welcome Page (Login Page) is:

1.)   Follow the steps on the wiki page, Password Reset - ServiceNow Enterprise Wiki, to set up your Verifications and Processes.   If you activated the plug-in and loaded the demo data that came with it, there will be 4 processes already set up that you can alter for use.

2.)   Assuming that #1 above is complete and working as it should, type "Welcome" into the filter on the left-hand navigation side.   You should see as part of the result set returned, under the System UI App, the Welcome Page Content module.   Click on it.

3.)   By default, unless you've deleted records, you should see a Short Description with the content of "Forgot your login credentials?" on the list.   Select this record and Activate it.

4.)   Once you set Active to True, this will appear on your Login page towards the bottom. Although it will appear, it won't work unless you get #1 configured correctly.

Hope this helps.

There are actually 3 different plug-ins/add-ons you have to enable to get it all working:

  1. Password Reset (plugin) - can be activated by any customer, provides the Processes, Verifications, and Credential Stores
  2. Self-Service Password Reset (plugin) - (free) provides the link on the login page that takes someone into Password Reset
  3. Password Reset Orchestration Core - add-on, subscription service, that provides Active Directory and SOAP Credential Stores for Password Reset, as well as the ability to write custom credential stores and verifications (like alternative email)

There are some "gotchas" with the Geneva and older Password Reset that are addressed in Helsinki.   I'm actually doing a talk at Knowledge 16 all about Password Reset, if you're attending I'd love to have you there!

Wade, this question has been opened since 2014, it would be great if you could mark one of the answers as Correct.   That way the thread will close.
