The Serial Number field on alm_hardware is no longer mandatory after its been updated to latest patc

The Serial Number field on alm_hardware is no longer mandatory in Sandbox after its been updated to latest patch . But the same Serial Number field on alm_hardware is longer mandatory in dev instance but it's not been updated to latest patch .., I 've tried reverting the changes to the latest version .., inactivated and logged all the BR and Client Scripts still it is been kept as non Mandatory in sandbox

Hi @Trupti Krishnam ,
Let me provide you a checklist so that you could identify which one is impacting this behavior exactly

  • Check the Dictionary Entry for the serial_number field on the alm_hardware table and compare the Mandatory attribute in both instances.
  • Verify whether there are any Dictionary Overrides applied that make the field mandatory in one instance but not the other.
  • Review any UI Policies (including inherited ones) that may dynamically set the field to mandatory based on conditions.
  • Check Data Policies or UI Policy Actions, as they can also enforce mandatory behavior.
  • Compare the relevant records using Compare to Another Instance or inspect the Update History to identify any configuration differences between DEV and Sandbox.

Hi @Trupti Krishnam 

 

  • Ensure that there isn't a Dictionary Override set up that is forcing the serial number field to be non-mandatory specifically for Sandbox.  For that navigate to System Definition > Dictionary and search for the serial_number field on the alm_hardware  and check.
  • Navigate to System UI > UI Policies and search for conditions affecting serial_number

  • Navigate to System Policy > Rules > Data Policies to ensure the alm_hardware data policy isn't explicitly modifying Sandbox rules
