Hi Everyone,
I am encountering an issue when attempting to change the approval state on a Requested Item (RITM) record.
Scenario: When trying to modify an existing approval record (e.g., approving or rejecting a request) from the Approvers related list on a RITM, I get the following browser alert message:
"Security does not allow the execution of that action against the specified record"
1-What specific Access Control List (ACL) rule or Business Rule triggers this alert on the sysapproval_approver table?
2-
Any guidance on where to check (ACLs, Data Policies, or Business Rules) would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Hello @PritiRanjaN
All Approvals records in ServiceNow can be found in table "sysapproval_approver
The column or field or dictionary name is State. Therefore, you need to navigate to All > System Security > Access Control (ACL) and search Name contains *sysapproval_approver and Operations is Write
You will find the relevant ACL "sysapproval_approver.state" as shown below:
When you look at this ACL, then you can click on No. of records matching the condition to find out the Request you are trying to approve is listed in the list or not (it should) and the ACL script will help you understand the role you need to approve this Request:
Hope that helps!

Thanks @Vishal Jaswal for the comment. I checked the ACL and the attached Script Include as well, but I couldn’t find where this message is being triggered.
