Assigning permissions against a knowledge base

IanDerbyshire

I am the Knowledge Manager for my organisation and have the knowledge_admin and knowledge_manager roles.

I have created 5 knowledge bases previously without issue.

I have created a new one called Service Delivery Manager but when trying to assign permissions (I want to create a new group for this purpose) I only have the option to edit and assign existing groups rather than create a new one.

What could be the issue?

Hi @IanDerbyshire,

While as a Knowledge Administrator and Knowledge Manager you can perform all of the administrative tasks and functions for the knowledge bases you manage (defining categories, pinning important articles, and approving changes to articles etc), create a new user criteria is not permitted.

You'll either need to request the 'user_criteria_admin' role or get one of the System Admins (user with 'admin' role) to create it for you which you'll be able to select.

To help others (and for me to gain recognition for my efforts), please mark this response correct by clicking on Accept as Solution and/or Kudos.

As @Robbie states, you will need the user_criteria_admin role to manage User Criteria for the knowledge base. I had this exact scenario last week. My admin rights were removed, leaving me with Knowledge Manager stuff. I created a new KB and then found I could not manage the criteria for it. I was added to the user_criteria_admin role and then was able to do what I needed to do.
