In the Industry 4.0 era, digitization and automation have become critical to factory functions, as manufacturers leverage smart machines to optimize their once-manual processes. However, the traditional management of operational technology (OT) systems has remained inefficient, unable to meet the dynamic needs of industry 4.0 transformation. Consequently, this impedes managers’ ability to build resilience in manufacturing. These inefficient, manual processes cause unplanned downtime that could have been optimized by securing, monitoring, and managing the OT environment. With Operational Technology Management (OTM), released in Rome in September, manufacturers can now gain a contextual, view of factory operations. But once you’ve gained visibility into your factory operations, what are your next steps? How do you maintain security and availability, efficiently manage incident resolution, and more? And how do you go about prioritizing these actions?
ServiceNow® Operational Technology Management (OTM) is purpose-built to help address these challenges by connecting manufacturing ecosystems with a single system of action to not only help improve visibility, but to help improve experiences, prioritize, and drive outcomes across the manufacturing value chain.
These two products are expected to be available as a part of the OTM solution to meet these needs: Operational Technology Service Management and Operational Technology Vulnerability Response.
OTM provides manufacturers with a complete picture of their OT environment, making it significantly easier to assess, prioritize, respond, and recover rapidly from incidents and changes. This single system of action automatically assigns and routes details into the right hand, such as level of importance, how to resolve, and real-time alerts. In addition, every step is captured to provide a trail of transparency for compliance purposes.
These products are expected to be available as part of the OTM solution:
- OT Vulnerability Response: Monitor your existing systems and ecosystem of partners to create a single view of related OT assets vulnerabilities. Notify the right person with the right operational contexts, steps of action, and prescriptive information based on the pre-configured alerts policy. Then assess, prioritize, and act on urgency and business impacts using OT context- specific risk scoring.
- OT Service Management: Accelerate incident resolution with built-in machine learning and contextual help to reduce bottlenecks. Guide intelligent routing and collaboration to boost productivity and restore services and routine maintenance fast. Take control of change management while minimizing risks, disruptions, and costs.
