How to login using the mobile application (Not mobile browser) on an instance configured with SSO.

My instance is configured with SSO which forces each user to the SSO site for user authentication. On the browser we can append /side_door.do to bypass this authentication and login with local credentials. When using a mobile browser this can be bypassed by appending /login.do. But when using the mobile application neither of these approaches work. Neither does changing the system property glide.authentication.external.disable_local_login.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
