You can use the Variable type Lookup Select Box go to the Type Specifications tab and select the table from where you want to get the subcategory value the use like below attached screenshot.

use the dependent field option.

Right click your subcategory field and configure dictionary. Then go to dependent and put category there. Then your subcategory field will only show values which matches the category.
