Search suggestions only appear to be considering the short description field and not the meta field

Search suggestions only appear to be considering the short description field and not the meta field. I see the same experience on the employee center and the platform UI as well. I have been searching for a solution, so that when searching, the suggestions are showing results based on the short description and meta fields. Has anyone had this issue and if so, what was done to resolve it?

Hello @Ross Drew ,

I assume you are referring to the search for Knowledge Articles since this is the only record that comes to mind that has a field called "Meta".

Here are some ideas:

  • Make sure the keywords in the Meta field are separated with a comma.
  • Verify that the article you are looking for meets the conditions for being included in the text search (default conditions are shown below).
  • Please note that the search term must match the meta keyword exactly, e.g. if the meta keyword is "laughter" and you search for "laugh" you won't find the article. When using Global search in the platform UI you can work around this using wild cards ("laugh*") but Service Portal / Employee Center search do not support this.

Thank you for your response! I did all of what you suggested. After I asked this question to the community, I came across this KB article.

KB1700715
AI Search suggestions not including meta tags

Meta tags are used to include terms customers want to match the document when searching even though the terms aren't in the title or body or any other string field.

When AI Search is enabled, Meta tags are not used to bring up results in the suggestion dropdown. Search-based suggestions only search the title field by design for performance sake. It is working as designed.

We are using AI search, so this KB article explains the situation. Thank you again!
