Hello all,

Recently we have upgraded our instance to Australia Patch-2 Hotfix-1.

On the home screen, I see Dashboards, and when I navigate to a dashboard, I see there is a button on the right side, "Switch to the next Experience UI".

What is it? and What happens when we click on it?

Please explain.

Regards,

Lucky

Hi @Lucky1

ServiceNow has introduced Platform Analytics, which enhances reporting capabilities. As a result, when you update to the latest release, you may see this message if some reports are still using the legacy reporting interface. To take advantage of the latest platform features, you can migrate your reports to Platform Analytics. Follow this link to learn more and understand the migration process.

UPDATE (March 2026): In March 2025, we announced that the ability to create new legacy content (dashboards and reports) would be discontinued beginning with the Australia release. Based on customer feedback requesting additional transition time, we have extended this timeline — new legacy content creation will remain available through the end of 2027, regardless of release family. While you may continue to create legacy content, it is unsupported starting with Australia.

Hi @Lucky1

ServiceNow has been actively standardizing dashboards across workspaces and the Next Experience UI.

The button  "Switch to the next Experience UI" allows users viewing a dashboard in the older Classic environment (UI16) to instantly update to the modern layout and features.

What is the New UI (Next Experience) Upgrade?
  •  It replaces the traditional "UI16" navigation with a modern, unified workspace experience featuring unified search, improved dashboards, and customized landing pages.
  • While the code arrives with a family upgrade, the UI itself must be actively enabled and configured, often requiring a transition period where users can switch between old and new.
When Should This Be Taken Care Of?
  • It is usually triggered by a company-level goal to modernize tools, rather than just keeping up with yearly maintenance.
  •  It must be tested thoroughly in a sub-production environment to map how existing dashboards and UI policies work within the new experience
