Hi: I am not able to edit 'input_fields' for ITSM 'Suggested steps generation' AI Skill.
Please see:
The 'input_fields' defaults to short_description. I would like to add Description, but am not able to do that.
Could you please advise on how to do this?
Thank you!

Hi RitaAudi
OOTB Suggested steps generation in Now Assist for IT Service Management (ITSM) is configured for Short_Desription field with a Valid Filter Condition which should grab>2000 Records for Clustering of Closed Incidents. I will not suggest to Edit/Customize OOTB Skill but you can explore more on this From NOW ASSIST SKILL CONFIG Table ().
try Editing Now Assist Skill Config Var Set record
Let us know but still i feel OOTB configuration must be altered with extreme Caution.
Hope this gives you a Start
Regards

Hi Rittaudi,
Just to summarize for others who might be exploring similar use cases:
- The short_description field is intentionally uneditable, as it plays a key role in how the internal GAF (Group and Filter) framework within ServiceNow groups similar past incidents.
- Adding more data to this field can overwhelm the model and lead to unreliable results, hence customization is currently not supported.
- Additionally, the "Suggested Steps Generation" skill is not supported for cloning at this time. Even within the Skill Kit, it is not available for configuration.
- If you believe this functionality should be extended or made configurable, it’s recommended to raise an enhancement request through the appropriate channel.
Hope this helps clarify the current limitations and available options.
Thanks.
