Now Assist Virtual Agent (NLU) - PDI

I'm currently trying to implement Now Assist with the Virtual Agent in a Personal Developer Instance (PDI) and running into problems with the NLU (Natural Language Understanding) component. The NLU doesn't seem to function as expected, and I'm not sure where the issue lies.

Additionally, is it even possible to fully implement and test Now Assist with NLU on a PDI, or are there any limitations I should be aware of?

Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Are there any common missteps I should check for when configuring NLU in this setup? I’d appreciate any tips or guidance on resolving this.

The short answer is: no, you can't implement Now Assist on PDIs.

 

Due to the significant compute resourses that would be required, ServiceNow has made the call not to allow Now Assist capabilities on PDIs.

Sadly, Now Assist or AI Agents are not available on PDI, so you can't test them there. However, you can explore courses related to Now Assist on Now Learning, which provide labs for hands-on experience. You can try those labs, but again, there's no guarantee that everything will work as expected.

@Rod - Unfortunately Now Assist is not available for PDI's right now.

The error you are receiving is relating to the fact that NLU functionality is restricted in PDI's (I've been getting the same error and I'm not trying to use Now Assist, just trying to use NLU)

As the other responders have mentioned, even if you do get past this hurdle you still won't be able to enable Now Assist in your PDI because that is also restricted on PDI's.

If you are a customer then follow @Dr Atul G- LNG advice and go to Now Learning where you will find a number of Now Assist courses that will offer some "hands on" experience.

If you are part of a partnership, reach out to your IT System Admins as each Partnership is granted a limited number of Now Assist entitlements to use on their Demo instances to enable them to better serve their (and by extension ServiceNow's) customers.
