Is there a future plan or conversations triggered to have NowAssist for ITSM available in our PDI's? certainly would be a nice to have 🙂

It has gotten a lot worse now that the 'helpfuls' contribute towards your Now University score.

Hi @Diane22 ,
That’s a great question and one that comes up often. From what I’ve seen so far, Now Assist (including GenAI and AI Search) isn’t available in PDIs—and realistically, it’s unlikely to be offered there given the infrastructure and resource overhead these capabilities require. PDIs are lightweight by design, and running AI workloads would be quite costly at scale.
That said, there are good ways to get hands-on with Now Assist today:
- Now Learning has guided trainings and labs (e.g., Now Assist Skill Kit Fundamentals, Now Assist for Creator Implementer).
- Partner Demo Instances or internal sandboxes (if you’re with a partner/customer org) are where you can experiment more freely.
- Now Create resources (like the Now Assist for ITSM Implementation Guide) are also worth exploring for structured best practices.
So while PDIs might not be the place for Now Assist experimentation, ServiceNow has clearly set up dedicated learning paths and demo environments to give developers and admins the exposure they need. Personally, I think it’s actually a good thing—it helps keep PDIs fast and clean for day-to-day building, while giving AI its own space to shine.
Would love to see in the future if ServiceNow explores a “lite” AI mode for PDIs (maybe a simulation or mock integration), but for now, training and partner/demo instances are the best routes.
