Is it advisable to create a custom role other than the OOTB roles and assign privileges to that role?
I am creating a use case of Employee onboarding and offboarding in Service Now. Are there any OOTB HR roles available that I can use in my use case?

Hi @DishiG
Prefer to go as much as OOTB, creating a new role needs work to set ACL or BR or another assignment. There are OOTB roles available under HRSD.

Hi @DishiG
- sn_hr_sp.admin: Administrator in the HR Service Portal application scope (now the Employee Center and Employee Center Core application scopes)
- sn_hr_sp.esc_admin: Administrator for the ESC portal (i.e., can configure/build ESC) within the the HR Service Portal application scope. These are now the EC portal and EC application scopes.
The reason is you just installed - 'Human Resources: Service Portal'
When you install 'Human Resources Scoped App: Core" then you see many role, like i shared.

Hi @DishiG ,
Yes, creating the new role and assigning those to new groups/or/user that depends on business need if ootb roles are not sufficient to fulfil the desire result or org wants to restrict the general use of roles.
As its not given that which application you are using for this onboarding and offboarding, is it custom or HRSD, HRSD application has various roles for different persona, please check and try to align your use case with ootb roles ( if applicable else create new roles).
-Thanks,
AshishKM

Hi @Dr Atul G- LNG
I can see numerous roles related to HR in the screenshot shared by you. But I have only two roles in my instance. What could be the possible reason for that? What solution can be adapted?
Please see the image attached.
