Subject: Important Update on Legacy Reporting and Analytics with Australia Release

Dear Valued Customers,

We would like to address some concerns and provide clarity regarding the upcoming upgrade to the Australia release and its impact on your reporting and analytics instances.

Overview: There has been some confusion about the status of customer instances following the upgrade to the Australia release. Specifically, there are concerns that customers might lose access to their dashboards and reports from the legacy reporting system. This system is also known by other names such as Core UI reporting, Responsive Canvas dashboards, or simply the old dashboards. For the purpose of this communication, we will refer to it as "legacy" reporting and analytics.

UPDATE (March 2026): In March 2025, we announced that the ability to create new Core UI content (dashboards and reports) would be discontinued beginning with the Australia release. Based on customer feedback requesting additional transition time, we have extended this timeline — new Core UI content creation will remain available through the end of 2027, regardless of release family.

Key Points:

  • No Mandatory Migration: There is no mandatory migration required at any time. However, support for legacy Performance Analytics (PA) content will end with the Australia upgrade.
  • UPDATE on New Content Creation: As of March 2026, legacy customers WILL be able to create new content using Core UI tools through the end of 2027.
  • Legacy dashboards and reports will remain available for use indefinitely. To clarify, as of March 2026:
    • USAGE of core UI content remains available indefinitely
    • NEW Core UI content creation ends at the end of 2027
  • Removed requirement for "All or nothing" migration.
  • There is no impact for customers who onboarded with ServiceNow on the Xanadu or later family release. Platform Analytics experience is the default reporting and analytics environment for net new instances as of Xanadu.

Identifying Legacy Systems: If you are unsure whether you are using the legacy system, please refer to the following visual indicators:

"All or nothing" migrations:

Prior to the Zurich release, customers needed to Activate the new environment in order to get the full Platform Analytics experience.

  • All content is available in the Platfor

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  1. What will happen to my legacy reports and dashboards when we upgrade to Australia?
    • Answer: Nothing will happen to your legacy reports and dashboards. You may continue to run and view them as long as you wish.
    • NOTE: Starting with Australia, legacy content will be accessible and integrated within the Platform Analytics UI. For example, you will see legacy dashboards in the same page as Platform Analytics dashboards.
  2. What if I encounter issues with my legacy dashboard or report after upgrading to Australia?
    • Answer: If you experience crashes, unknown errors, or other problems with your legacy dashboards or reports, the resolution will be to migrate or recreate the content in the Platform Analytics experience. We will no longer support legacy dashboards and reporting, except for critical security issues, once you upgrade to Australia or later.
  3. Can I still update or modify my existing legacy content post-Australia upgrade?
    • Answer: Yes, you can update or modify your existing legacy content. However, you will not be able to create new content using the legacy system.
  4. Can I rollback a migration to the legacy versions?
    • Yes
  5. Are there any licensing or entitlement changes when I use PAe?
    • Answer: No. You remain entitled to use any capability you were entitled to use in the legacy system. There are new capabilities, such as AI-driven capabilities, that may require additional licensing.

We hope this clarifies any concerns you may have regarding the Australia release. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our support team.

Thank you for your continued support.

The official communication message sent in March 2025 is attached.

Thank you for posting this.  Will the navigation to dashboards be merged?

@Edward Brown  Yes, all content will be under the Platform Analytics UI pages. I updated the article to reflect. Thanks for the heads up!

Hi!
I am currently in Yoko and I am leading the PA migration. I have been looking at the community posts and some housekeeping tips but looks like those seem a bit dated. Could you please confirm if the pre-migration tips  outlined there are still considered best practice, or if there’s a more recent approach that ServiceNow now recommends?

I imagine many of your other customers would have already gone through similar migrations, possibly with guidance from Customer Success Managers. Specifically, I wanted to check whether marking unused reports and dashboards with “#Archive” in their titles is still the suggested pre-cleanup method, or if there’s now a preferred alternative.

TIA! Cheers!

Hi @snehagary great question! Yes, everything in the cleanup academy and deck is still relevant. Doing something in the name to mark the reports you do not plan to migrate can be very helpful, especially as it allows you to set the marked reports as "Do not migrate". Setting them to not migrate will ensure that doesn't happen, and renaming them ahead of time makes it much easier to mark "Do not migrate" in bulk.

Hi @Dan_Kane ,

Thank you for above clarification post. I now understand that if Core UI reports and Dashboards are not migrated over to PA in Australia - they can still be accessible and are editable.

1. Can you please verify that they can be migrated to PA in Australia?

2. And if we had migrated few dashboards and reports in previous version (Yokohoma or Zurich) - will we still be able to migrate the rest of reports and dashboard to Platform Analytics in Australia? - meaning can we continue to migrate selected reports/dashboards from core ui to platform analytics?  Thank you

@RaniK3666699030 Yes, the migration remains available for any remaining Core UI content. It doesn't matter if you have done a previous partial migration. You could also mark content "Do not migrate" now, and later remove that designation. It would then be available to migrate in any release going forward.

As of Zurich, migrations can also be done in stages, or even as individual dashboards. Previous to Zurich, if you chose the partial migration the legacy content remained and the links to that content would not be updated to the new version. With Zurich, you can now perform the "full" migration on any dashboard or set of dashboards. The full migration means the legacy content becomes hidden and previous links to the legacy dashboard are updated to the new version.

@Dan_Kane - This is a helpful clarification and should ease a lot of anxiety around the Australia release. It clearly explains that nothing breaks overnight, legacy dashboards remain usable, and teams can migrate on their own timeline—while still setting the right expectation that Platform Analytics is the future. A well-balanced message from ServiceNow that gives customers flexibility without slowing progress. Thanks for the great share!

Hi @Dan_Kane

Just a quick one — we’re currently preparing for Platform Analytics migration and looking for an official FAQ document and user-facing communication, suitable for audiences at all levels recommended by ServiceNow.

I came across KB1709304 – Platform Analytics Experience FAQ, but it isn’t accessible with our instance. Could you please confirm whether this is still the correct and active reference, or if there’s an alternative or updated document we should be using? If this KB1709304 is the right one, would you be able to share the document here or point us to an accessible version?

Appreciate your guidance.

Cheers!
