Platform Analytics - Dashboard Homepage Loop, possibility of rollback

The Scene:

We are currently in active development of several applications that utilise PA dashboards (Performance Analytics dashboards) also sometimes referred to as coreUI dashboards.

We for our sins don't have the majority of our users moved over to the Next Experience, so the vast majority of fulfillers are using some combination of tools workspaces / forms but the core of their interaction still starts from within UI16.

We are currently looking through our application set and making sure everything is all where it should be and up to date ahead of forced timelines. For PA this is the upgrade to PAR (Platform Analytics) by early 2025.

As part of this we have installed Platform Analytics in the Dev environment as detailed int he documenatation and with the first few Dashboard tests seemed to work without issue. (Mostly only checked with Next UI not UI16) The few who did check via UI16 reported no major issue as none of the dashboards happened to be their homepage / the page that attempts to load when first logging in to servicenow or clicking the homepage link on the application menu under self service.

We moved to the next stage of testing and used the migration center to migrate all the dashboards within the Dev environment.

The Issue:

Any user with a dashboard set as their homepage that is now a PAR dashboard and is using UI16. Upon login gets booted to the Platform Analytics Workspace. User can stay on the page if they cancel the loading of the Dashboard, which is awkward.

It's become apparent until we get all our users off of UI16 that Platform Analytics will just be too cumbersome. So we won't roll it out to live until that is done as a dependency.

This leaves us in the position though that we cannot do anything with coreUI dashboards in the dev as part of active development to be moved to our Live environment which is still using coreUI dashboards. As they are now iFramed in the dev and not editable when you roll them back. Our Users love dashboards and i'm sure they will love PAR dashboards when we can transition properly, but for the time being development of those dashboards in DEV has now halted.

Anyone have any ideas on a solution to either get us back to being able to develop, without this issue. Either by rolling back PAR entirely or dealing with the awkward redirect issue of the dashboard and getting editable coreUI dashboards back.

Obvious answers are:

Force everyone over to Next UI right now.

Clone Live to Dev. Deal with the fallout of bringing back online current partial developments into DEV.

I've done some more digging.

By taking each dashboard and rolling it back. I can get it so that the edit button is available and is editable.

So it may just be a case of selecting all dashboards and initiating a rollback. The user experience is visually different slightly but may be Okay enough to continue.
