Reports not appearing in Add Saved Data Visualization while adding to Dashboard

Hi everyone,

We’ve created several reports for Incidents and Requested Items. When trying to add these reports to a dashboard using the Add Saved Data Visualization option, only the Incident reports appear — the reports created for Requested Items do not show up in the list.

It seems we can create a new visualization directly within the dashboard using Data Visualization, but there are quite a few differences in configuration and formatting compared to the reports we already created. Hence, it would be much better if we could directly add the existing reports instead of recreating them from scratch.

Has anyone else faced this issue? Is there a way to make the Requested Item reports visible or compatible with the Data Visualization dashboard component?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @aparnaravi ,

The issue where only Incident reports appear in the "Add Saved Data Visualization" list on dashboards, but Requested Item (sc_req_item) reports do not, stems from the fact that the Data Visualization widget on dashboards supports only certain report types and data sources—primarily those based on tables enabled for Analytics Framework, which often includes Incident but may exclude Requested Items unless configured.

Why Requested Item Reports May Not Appear

  • Analytics Framework Enablement:
Data Visualization uses the Performance Analytics / Analytics Framework, which requires tables to be enabled as report sources. The Incident table is typically enabled by default, but Requested Item (sc_req_item) or related tables may not be enabled or fully compatible.
  • Report Types Supported:
Only some report types (e.g., List, Bar, Pie charts) created with the new Visualization builder are compatible; older or custom reports might not be listed.
  • Scoped App and Permissions:
If the reports or tables are in a different scope, or permissions are limited, the reports may not show up in the dashboard selection pane

Recommended Solutions

1. Enable Analytics Framework for Requested Item Table
2. Rebuild Reports Using Data Visualization Builder
3. Use Dashboard Widgets That Support Legacy Reports
4. Check Scope and Sharing Settings for Reports
In short, to add Requested Item reports to Data Visualization dashboards, you likely need to enable the Requested Item table in Performance Analytics or recreate reports with the Data Visualization builder designed for dashboards. If immediate reuse of existing reports is critical, embedding original reports using traditional reporting widgets on dashboards is a practical workaround
