Governance in Performance Analytics and Dashboards
UPDATED - Summer 2024
Like any other service management process or program, analytics requires certain tasks to be completed. A critical part of any program is determining answers to these questions:
- What happens as teams and individuals want their own dashboard?
- Who should create dashboards?
- In which instance should Analytics content be created and maintained?
- What roles are needed for a good practice dashboard program?
The attached article attempts to identify good practices to employ when building a ServiceNow dashboard program. We’ll provide a recommended approach to roles, responsibilities, and development standards in the platform analytics environment. As with any good practice documentation, your company’s situation may require modifications, consolidations, and content expansion.

This is really good stuff Dan. As you mention, I think in most cases people have more than one of the functional roles you describe. I like the RACI and the suggested training path information. That is all very helpful.

We have a big client with Citizen Development project with more than 20 Business Unit with 500 developers, with a prospect of having 3000 developers in 1 year. They always ask why not develop reports and dashboards in production. This document will be very useful.

Good morning @Dan_Kane, from California. Is it true that the SN Instance will not have Dashboards without Performance Analytics in your company's apps bundle?

@Taura Gentry Ke I'm not sure I understand the question. Can you give me an example of what you mean? And what do you mean by an app bundle? Thanks!

Hi @Dan_Kane thank you. So if we were considering only renewing our ITSM vs. ITSM Pro (which does not include PA), will our current dashboards go away?

@Taura Gentry Ke Ah, so this is actually a question about what you are entitled to if you make the change. You will need to contact your account executive for clarification on any issues regarding entitlement and licensing.
