Breakdown sort order - how to set it to default alphabetical?

Hej,

When I create a new Break-down and add it to several Indicators at once (Fuji-feature), I get the new Break-down showing up last in the drop down at the scorecard tab "Breakdowns" for an individual Indicator. We note this behavior of list items in other places of the system as well (Widget - selector). Is there any system setting that will default to alphabeticall order in this type of lists rather than last added? Alphabetical order will make it easier for the users to find both in PA and in SN standard dashboards.

I know I can manually add a number to get the order I want and what I do now i Fuji is go into each indicator and select all breakdowns applied, demote them and the promote them again - at that point they will get back in alphabetical order... only I want to avoid having to go into each individual indicator to get the sort order corrected everytime I add a breakdown.

Regards,

Lena

Hi Lena,

I can understand what your trying to do and thank you for your explanation. Just as

Vincent Loffeldsays there is no standard feature to do this. It is by design that when adding new breakdowns to your indicators a sort order is added. Your request is to be able to configure this when adding the breakdown to indicators. I will create a story in the backlog for this request although I cannot commit that this will see the light anytime soon, earliest possible release will be H.

In the meantime as a workaround you could use the 'pa_indicator_breakdowns' table to control the ordering of your breakdowns. If you would like to have them always sorted alphabetically then simply remove the ordering. This will force a ordering in alphabetical order. I've attached a screenshot of the list report below. Using filters, grouping, sorting, etc..., you should be able to much granularly control which breakdowns receive what ordering.pa_indicator_breakdowns-report.jpg

Hi Lena,

I don't think that there is a standard option to do this. It is either manually ordering the breakdowns or you could write a script that runs over the pa_indicator_breakdown table setting the order field. Depending on the amount of indicators and breakdowns you have i think writing a script to do this is a rather inefficient way.

Perfect — thanks! We were just discussion if we should raise a request from our side but if you are doing it — great!

Hi Dvan,

Thank you for your explanation. Is there anything that can be done to SORT Breakdowns that were made trhough BUCKET GROUPS? I ordered my buckets in a logical order, but once within the Breakdown they are re-ordered by score, making it hard to keep the focus.

Any hint / idea [even if that means there's no such a capability] will be more than welcome.

Thanks in advance,
