Creating a widget for survey responses to display on dashboard/client portal

Hi all,

I am trying to create a widget to add to the dashboard (potentially to a client portal as well) displaying the results of a survey, however I'm stuck on a few things:

1. I can  click on a survey instance and see the questions and their results, but how would I tie them together in a report? If i run a report on the metrics I can group by question but I would actually want to run a report on  survey instances, with either an average score of the metrics being calculated or a combination of scores per question and number of responses with that score.

2. I've tried to create an indicator however receive the message that I'm running a trial version of PA,  which i've now come to understand is because the premium analytics is an additional subscription required. Before I bring it up with my manager I'd like to know if that is actually required to create the widget I'm trying to make.

3. Basically, in a summarised line, if I could display on my dashboard the scorecard that appears when you click "View Scorecard" in the survey definition's related links then that would be awesome. What is required to do this?

Hello Ahmad,

In order to get the scorecard you are looking for - which is what we refer to as a detailed scorecard on a Performance Analytics widget - you would need to create an indicator to collect the data you need.   In order to create a new indicator, you do need to have the Performance Analytics premium plugin.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Cheers

Tara

Hi Tara,

Thanks for your reply. We have gotten the plugin enabled on our dev environment, and i've spent a whole day reading wikis and watching videos and haven't had any major progress with indicators or getting something even remotely close to that detailed scorecard. Do you recommend any resource other than the wiki? It is a bit confusing because I'd start reading up on widgets and then it asks me to create an indicator (which I don't know anything about either) and then I just end up going in wiki loops and getting lost.

Hi Ahmad,

It is a bit more complicated than just following the wiki.   My suggestion would be to enroll in a PA course.   We offer them through our company and I believe will also have some PA courses at Knowledge 17 this year.   It really is best to have instructor based training on this tool.   There are so many things it can do.   See if that is a possibility, if not, reach back out to us and I can provide you some steps (in order) of how to create the basic indicator/widget.   But that will only get you so far.

Take Care,

Tara

Hi Tara,

If you could provide some additional guidance that would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I don't have time to dedicate to a course right now because this is a small task in a large project. If I can create my first indicator/widget from scratch using something other than the incident table then I think that would be enough of a starting point for me to go from there.
