What edit permissions are required for the edit in designer link to show up for someone? It seems to depend on the user and the visualization. As an admin, I have one visualization where I can see "edit in designer" and another visualization where I cannot. A non-admin user who is the owner of a visualization cannot see "edit in designer" on it. I am noticing that the visualization with "saved visualization" in the header does have "edit in designer" available, but the visualization with "data visualization" does not. Is there a difference between a saved visualization and a data visualization?

Hi @Claire Ashdown2.
Edit a data visualization | You can edit any visualization that you created or that was shared with you with editing rights, if it is not in the library. If it is in the library, you also need the viz_creator role. Edit any visualization on the instance with viz_admin or higher. |

Please, let me know if that helped

Thanks for the reply! The issue isn't access to edit the visualization, but rather the "Edit in Designer" link that is inconsistently on some visualizations but not others. You can see the link I am talking about in the screenshot I attached to the post.

You are admin, so you should be able to edit anything...
Do you have a chance to save it first and then to check for the edit in designer link?
Eventually please log out, clear cache and log in. You might be surprised how many problems this can solve 😄 but no guarantee for this very thing

Claire,
The Visualization Designer can only be used with data visualizations that are in the Library. The available options are slightly different that what you have in the in-dashboard editor; therefore, if you have the right to edit a visualization in the library, and you have it open in the editor in a dashboard, you can switch editors. Note that you should also have an "Unlink from library" option for every visualization for which you have an "Edit in designer" option. Conversely, for every data visualization for which you don't have an "Edit in designer" option, you should have an "Add to library" option--assuming you are logged in as admin or someone else with library privileges, of course.
I will try to make the doc clearer on this point. I think though that this doc is pretty clear: https://www.servicenow.com/docs/bundle/yokohama-now-intelligence/page/use/dashboards/task/open-dv-on...
